GLAMGLOW SUPERCLEANSE

If you read my hair journey piece, you’ll know that it was a high maintenance hot mess, that required a lot of hair masks. Contrary to my diligent hair masks, when it comes to my skin care, I barely make the time to do masks. I’ve always cleansed, toned and moisturized. The past year as I start noticing fine lines, I’ve added anti-aging creams and serums as well as hydrating serums and SPF veils to this regime. However one product missing from my routine is something to help unclog my stubborn pores.

When I moved to New York in 2012, I was obsessed (still am) with Sephora, and came across GLAMGLOW in one of their stores. Specifically, I saw their supermud clearing treatment mask. GLAMGLOW cites on their websites that:

“this mask is the ultimate mattifying and pore-refining superhero. The powerful Activated-X charcoal helps to draw out dirt, oil, congestion and impurities leaving pores looking refined and skin looking instantly more mattified.”

I remember buying a small pot of the mask and finding the whole experience weird. The product dried from a dark grey into a light blue-grey colour and it cracked as you talked. Never the less, I was impressed by the results; but I’m lazy with skincare masks, so I only used it about three times. I’ve bought other masks throughout the years only to leave them sitting prettily on my shelf.

GLAMGLOW SUPERCLEANSE

When I was home in Switzerland last week, I went to Marionnaud (a beautyshop chain store), and saw GLAMGLOW had come out with a cleanser à la their mud mask. First, I was impressed to see the brand in the small Swiss town I grew up in, and secondly, I was intrigued. On the GLAMGLOW website, the description for the product reads:

“SUPERCLEANSE™ with a pore-refining triple-charcoal boost! Our most advanced clearing cream-to-foam cleanser, now with a powerful blend of three charcoals to detoxify and absorb a range of impurities from the skin. Infused with TEAOXI® Eucalyptus Leaf, Mediterranean clay, and a special blend of bamboo, ubame wood, and coconut charcoals, this formula clarifies and helps remove pore-clogging debris, excess oil, and face makeup, while leaving skin feeling soothed, soft, and sexy”

A cleanser instead of a mask to unclog my pores from GLAMGLOW? Sold. On their website it retails at £24 (I bought it in Switzerland where it went for CHF 36.90).

I wear make up regularly, and I’ve been looking for a product that delivers a deep cleanse and removes face make up. The day of purchase I tried the product. My skin felt refreshed and I could definitely smell and feel the eucalyptus. I had expected for the cream to become foamier after adding water and rubbing it vigorously (as instructed), but aside from that I have no complaints.

I’ve been using the GLAMGLOW every night for over a week (I use my Elemis gentle foaming facial wash in the morning) and I’m liking the results. Aside from my eye makeup, the cleanser definitely removes most of my face makeup. My pores are also looking more refined and I like the refreshing effect of the eucalyptus.

If you’re a lazy face mask person like me, but need to give your pores some TLC, GLAMGLOW’s supercleanse might just be the face wash missing in your skin care routine.
